Northumberland has everything for the perfect holiday:- lovely countryside, lakes, the Cheviot hills, stately homes, a National Park, Hadrian's Wall and a coastline with miles of magnificent beaches, sand dunes, towering cliffs and pretty coastal villages such as Alnmouth, Craster, Beadnell and Seahouses. A number of castles can be found throughout the area such as the 'royal' castle of Bamburgh, as well as Alnwick, Warkworth and Dunstanburgh.
Northumberland is the least densely populated County in England. It has
its own National Park, its own flag, its own tartan and its own dialect
with more castles open to the public than any other county - a relic of
the long and bloody conflicts fought against the Scots. Northumberland borders
with Scotland and the regin has seen many battles and it has a history of
war, revolt, and rebellion.
